Document Control – Removing the Variables

What does document control look like to you?

If we take a step back and really think about that, it begs a few additional questions to start with, and we’d encourage you to answer them for yourself (and if you’re feeling particularly involved, reply below with your answers!).

1. How am I being notified when something or someone changes my drawings?

2. Do I feel in the know when I go to look for a current set of drawings or specifications?

3. Am I relying on someone outside of my core team to relay change documents to me?

It’s crucial to know when a situation or curveball arises in your project that changes someone’s scope, and ultimately the budget. So how do we know there’s enough visibility into the inner workings of our projects to feel like we understand what all is going on? Without an efficient stream of communication, it becomes harder and harder to get your eight hours of sleep every night. Sometimes in all the shuffle, lines get blurred and people get left out of important conversations.

 MySmartPlans is the solution!

With push notifications, MSP will always keep you as an end user in the loop when your documents change or alter in any way. Your Digital Information Librarian is responsible for establishing clear channels of communication with your design-build teams. They ensure that every single change that takes place on your project is routed through and captured inside of MySmartPlans. This includes a current set of drawings that allows for change management, version control, and drawing redlines when necessary. The best part is that all organized documentation becomes part of our seamless closeout process.
